While tax deductions do not typically drive philanthropy, guiding donors and clients to tax-wise giving strategies can result an unexpected double win: improving the world, with a potential tax break to boot. This presentation, tailored for gift officers (and financial advisors who assist clients with philanthropy) by gift officers, discusses the importance of understanding taxation, provides an overview of tax rates and applying the standard deduction vs. itemizing, the impact of capital gain, and utilizing assets to maximize the philanthropy of your donors. A gift can take many different forms, help your donors choose the right gift for them!

Join Natalie Taylor & Richard Peyser from the Carnegie Mellon University Office of Gift Planning & Development as they present Understanding Taxation & Philanthropy from a Gift Officer’s Perspective. We hope to see you there!
