The Final DAF Regulations are Coming! The Final DAF Regulations are Coming! – A Panel Discussion of Proposed Treasury Regulations Re: IRC §4966 Impacting Donor Advised Funds & the Broader Charitable Sector

Just as Paul Revere reported to the Massachusetts townspeople on that April night in 1775 that the ‘British are coming!” the Government Relations Committee of the National Association of Charitable Gifts Planners is here to do the same to our many members and colleagues who are professionals in the charitable giving sector. On February 15, 2024, the Gov’t Relations Committee Advocacy Webinar will spotlight the Proposed Regulations Re: IRC §4966 released by the Treasury Department on December 15, 2023. All professionals, regardless of whether you are a charitable gift planning officer, executive, director, or an allied professional (financial advisor, attorney, accountant, trust officer) who works with charitably minded folks, need to be aware of these long-awaited regulations from the Treasury Department. While some of the regulations are clear and will undoubtedly provide much-needed guidance to the DAF sector, other regulations are more sweeping in scope. They could have unintended consequences for “unwary” public charity DAF sponsors and/or financial planners and allied professionals who provide services to DAFs and/or “DAF Advisors” (aka your donors/clients) – particularly in the form of significant excise taxes.
